Skyrim's long-awaited successor finally gets a name, but no release date

Bethesda has finally confirmed that its long-awaited Skyrim successor will be called The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel. The announcement appeared at the end of a video celebrating the studio’s 40th anniversary, although no gameplay footage or release date accompanied the reveal. For those who can’t be bothered with the full video, Bethesda has also posted a confirmation on X.
First announced at E3 2018, The Elder Scrolls 6 has remained largely under wraps for more than eight years. The announcement confirms an October 29 report from The Verge, which correctly predicted that Bethesda would reveal the Sentinel subtitle in November, around the 15th anniversary of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
The name was also seemingly teased by Xbox CEO Asha Sharma in August, when she referred to the upcoming RPG using eight asterisks in place of its subtitle after watching a live gameplay demonstration.
According to earlier reports, Sentinel will reportedly take place in Hammerfell and explore the mysteries surrounding the Elder Scrolls themselves. However, Bethesda has yet to confirm either detail. The developer previously stated that The Elder Scrolls VI is its primary development focus and is being built using Creation Engine 3. For now, its release window and supported platforms remain unknown.
