The latest Fallout Day in October was a bust for many loyalists of the Bethesda franchise. While it unveiled the Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition, there were no new AAA game announcements. Followers were especially disappointed, given the success of the TV show. In a more promising update, an insider has reassured gamers that remasters for Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are in development.
Jez Corden of Windows Central previewed what Xbox might introduce in 2026. Before discussing future Fallout games, he commented on a mystery raised by a countdown clock. A website for the show includes a timer, which may correspond to the season 2 finale date. However, some gamers had been hoping for more unexpected news.
Unfortunately, the Editor-in-Chief denied any gaming-related connection to the clock. Nevertheless, Corden’s sources have confirmed that a Fallout 3 remaster is incoming. Although he refers to the title as a remake, it will likely follow the approach of Oblivion Remastered.
Hints that Bethesda would return to the third mainline game in the series surfaced in leaked 2020 Microsoft court records. The documents projected a 2024 release date, but other insiders, like NateTheHate2, recently insisted that the project exists.
Why is a New Vegas remaster announcement taking so long?
Perhaps more relevant to the Amazon Prime program would be a Fallout: New Vegas remaster. The show takes place around fifteen years after the conclusion of the 2010 title. Its second season features the same bleak Mojave Wasteland setting players remember from the Bethesda game. That gave fans hope that the company would capitalize on positive ratings to make another announcement.
Sadly, the publisher may not be ready to unveil the title. Regardless, Corden expects multiple Fallout games to finally become a reality. Not to be forgotten, Fallout 5 is also on the way, possibly after The Elder Scrolls VI release date. Microsoft is hosting numerous events over the next year that could offer clues, including the January Xbox Developer Direct.
