Whether hunting for a gaming TV or a home theater centerpiece, the Sony Bravia 8 is a versatile option. The OLED TV deal slashes the price of the 65-inch XR8B by as much as $800. Even though the display is not a light cannon, it’s bright enough to become the focal point of most living rooms.

The updated 2025 version of the Sony Bravia 8 has some advantages over similarly priced OLED TVs. It’s tailor-made for console gamers, with a seamless setup that benefits PS5 owners. Unlike many competitors, the display can also enhance speaker configurations. The 65-inch XR8B is now seeing one of its largest discounts at multiple retailers.

Available at Walmart, Best Buy, and Amazon for $1,198, this deal trims the MSRP of the OLED TV by up to $800. Buyers can also opt for the larger 77-inch alternative, which the new sale reduces to $1798.

The latest Sony Bravia 8 has the ultra-slim design and minimal bezels expected from a modern flat-panel. It also converts to two different positions to welcome smaller TV stands or soundbars. The Sony OLED TV can also serve as a center channel speaker, delivering crisp dialogue without additional equipment.

Unfortunately, viewers in well-lit environments may find the XR8B's maximum brightness somewhat disappointing. Still, the Rtings review suggests that in most scenarios, viewers can appreciate its deep blacks. For enhanced colors, supported formats include Dolby Vision HDR, which isn’t found on Samsung OLED sets.

While many displays are excellent gaming TVs, console owners may be drawn to the Bravia line. Perks like Auto HDR Tone Mapping ensure that PS5 games display colors accurately. Although rivals like the LG C4 offer 144Hz refresh rates, the 120Hz setting on the Sony Bravia TV pairs with the gaming system. Latency is also very low, allowing for high-level gaming on big screens.

The Bravia 8 has some unexpected bonuses

An often overlooked capability, the XR8B can also act as a PS Remote Play device. Gamers without a PlayStation Portal may find it a convenient way to access a PS5 from another room. Its Google TV interface also serves as a gateway to a wide variety of popular streaming apps.

When looking for upgrades, the pricier 65-inch Bravia 8 II uses QD-OLED technology and boasts superior brightness. Strangely, both the more expensive Bravia and the XR8B ship with only two HDMI 2.1 ports, while the LG sets, like the C4, include four.

It’s unclear when this early Black Friday OLED TV deal will expire. The Amazon sale lists the Bravia 8 discounted price of $1198 as a limited-time offer.
