Sony announces higher than expected prices of new Bravia TVs

Sony has announced the US, UK and EU pricing for the 2025 Bravia TV range. These new models were announced earlier in April and will be offered alongside some of the 2024 devices. 

The Sony Bravia 8 II is a new flagship QD-OLED model which will replace the brand’s A95L TV. Potential US customers will be disappointed to learn that this model will be more expensive than expected in this market, starting from $3,499. Initially, Sony indicated that the Bravia 8 II would be cheaper than its predecessor, the A95L. 

However, the confirmed pricing shows that it is more expensive here; for example, the 65-inch A95L has a $3,499 RRP, while the same-size Bravia 8 II will start at $3,999.99. The company has not officially confirmed whether this is due to the new US tariffs. This $3,499.99 starting price point also makes the Bravia 8 II more expensive than competitor models like the LG G5 ($2,499) and the Samsung S95F ($2,499), which has an identical panel.

Also coming to the US is the Bravia 5, a Mini LED model that will be a brighter successor to the X90L. Available in sizes from 55 to 98 inches, prices will start from $1,699.99. Plus, there is a new entry-level model exclusive to North America, the Bravia 2 II, starting from $699.99.

In Europe, the Bravia 8 II does get a lower starting price compared to the A95L, at £2,499.99/€2,599.99 rather than £2,999.99/€3,299.99. The European pricing of the Bravia 5 has also been announced, with a starting point of £1,499.99/€1,549.99. Here, the Bravia 8 II will ship from June 6th and the Bravia 5 from May 23rd.
