Despite the Sony A95L debuting in 2023, many reviewers still rank it among the best OLED TVs available. Even with the Bravia 8 II following it, Rtings finds it has the edge in several areas, including color accuracy. At 77 inches, which is not available with its successor, the A95L is seeing its lowest sale price to date.
The Keepa price tracker reveals that the most tempting previous deal on the Sony OLED TV was $3798. Now, it’s fallen to $3498 at Amazon, with the model also in stock at Best Buy at a $1500 discount.
QD-OLED benefits on the Bravia
Benefiting from QD-OLED technology, the A95L offers improved brightness. The panel creates greater disparity between lighter and darker hues, resulting in a more impactful image. However, while the OLED TV in this sale impresses in SDR mode, the Bravia 8 II has a slight edge in HDR brightness.
The most discerning viewers recognize the display's precise, out-of-the-box color accuracy. Combined with a high contrast ratio, the Sony A95L meets the demands of the fussiest film enthusiasts. It thrives in dim media rooms, but its advantages fade somewhat in more well-lit spaces.
Higher-end Sony Bravia models excel at image processing, and the A95L is no exception. Its XR cognitive processor upscales older TV shows and movies, making them look crisper. That’s especially crucial on a larger 77-inch screen, since any flaws become more noticeable.
The Sony A95L has gaming advantages, with caveats
Bravia TVs are a natural fit for PS5 owners, thanks to features that make setup smoother. Auto HDR Tone Mapping can ensure that games take full advantage of the 4K TV’s wide color palette. That said, the Sony OLED TV rivals like the LG G5 exhibit lower input lag to appeal to competitive gamers. Another drawback with this option is that only two of the four ports are HDMI 2.1. Even so, console users will appreciate its maximum 120Hz refresh rate.
The model featured in the current deal has unique capabilities, including serving as an acceptable center channel speaker. Often overlooked, the TV ships with the Bravia Cam, which can operate as a webcam. The accessory also tracks a viewer's position and tweaks picture and sound settings accordingly.
Besides the 77-inch LG G5, the Samsung S95F OLED TV is in the same price range as the A95L. Still, while the LG and Samsung sets boast brighter HDR, at its $3498 Amazon sale price, Bravia’s image processing remains unmatched.
