LG has revealed the first details of its next-generation smart TVs at CES. While a complete data sheet is still pending, the company has already confirmed the most important new features of its OLED G5 and OLED M5. Accordingly, the two top models are expected to shine more brightly than ever before and Filmmaker Mode will automatically adjust the display to the ambient light, which should make it more useful in daylight.
Unlike Samsung and its new 4,000 nits QD-OLED smart TVs, LG has not yet provided any further details on just how bright the new panels are, apart from a barely meaningful claim that the Smart TVs are "three times brighter" than "conventional" OLED TVs. The LG OLED M5 remains limited to 144 Hz, but wireless transmission from the Zero Connect Box is expected to work even more reliably than the previous model; devices such as a Sony PlayStation 5 can be connected to this external box and the image is then streamed to the TV without loss of quality.

The LG OLED G5 now reaches a frame rate of 165 Hz, including support for AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia G-Sync, which should please PC gaming enthusiasts. The LG OLED G5 has a screen diagonal of 48 inches to 97 inches, but the new, brighter panel is only installed in models from 55 inches to 83 inches. The new LG Alpha 11 Gen 2 processor once again supports AI upscaling for the intelligent scaling of content to full 4K resolution.
LG is focusing on AI features more than ever in 2025, replacing the well-known Magic Remote with the AI Remote. This omits the button for changing inputs; instead, these must be selected via the WebOS user interface. To do this, LG has installed a microphone button that users can use to interact directly with an AI chatbot and even with Microsoft Copilot.
