Samsung has announced a whole range of interesting OLED panels in the run-up to CES, starting with a brand new QD OLED panel for next-generation smart TVs. The panel is said to reach over 4,000 nits of peak HDR brightness, making it 30% brighter than last year's panel.
This panel has only been showcased with a diagonal of 77 inches so far, but rumors say it will also come in a diagonal of 55 inches, 65 inches and 83 inches; the top model is completely new, as last year's QD OLED only reached a maximum of 77 inches. These new QD OLED panels are also said to be coming in the most popular monitor sizes, i.e., 27-, 31.5-, 34- and 49 inches. Samsung also claims that the new monitor panels will have the highest pixel density of all OLED monitors, so the 27 and 31.5-inch models are expected to reach at least full 4K resolution.
At the same time, Samsung Display has unveiled three roll-out OLED panels. The "Slidable Flex Solo" is able to expand its screen diagonal from 13.3 inches to 17.3 inches, making it ideal for flagship tablets such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. The "Slidable Flex Duet" was specially developed for car dashboards, as the panel can be extended from 8.1 inches to 12.4 inches. The "Slidable Flex Vertical", on the other hand, may precipitate the comeback of compact smartphones, as the panel has a diagonal of 5.1 inches when rolled up, but 6.7 inches when unrolled.
Lastly, Samsung has developed a foldable panel that has a diagonal of 13.1 inches when folded and 18.1 inches when unfolded. This panel is intended for mobile monitors as well as tablets and laptops, and is the direct successor to the 17.3-inch folding panel from 2022, which was used in the Asus Zenbook 17 Fold.
