Deal | 77-inch Sony Bravia 8 OLED TV maximizes gaming and movies for $900 off in Amazon sale

While competition from LG and Samsung is intense, the Sony Bravia 8 enjoys a devoted following among home theater enthusiasts. The OLED TV stands out for its picture processing that enhances older games, movies, and TV shows. During Amazon Prime Big Deal Days 2026, the 77-inch model is at its lowest price ever.

The K-77XR8C variation of the Bravia 8 is discounted by over $900, for a final price of $1598. Compared to the XR80, the display is missing the XR Contrast Booster but is otherwise identical.

WOLED and QD-OLED differences

The 4K Sony OLED TV featured in the Amazon sale relies on a WOLED panel rather than the QD-OLED alternative. As a result, it sacrifices some color volume, particularly at high brightness levels. Nevertheless, owners praise the deep blacks and crisp picture quality the technology delivers.

Rtings’s Bravia 8 review noted how its peak brightness was a step below premium rivals. That limits its appeal somewhat in well-lit living and media rooms. Still, the XR processor's powerful upscaling is where the TV distinguishes itself. The chip improves lower-resolution content, sharpening pixelated objects and minimizing artifacts.

Gaming on the XR8C

Not surprisingly, Sony designed the 77-inch OLED TV to cater to PlayStation consoles. Perks like Auto HDR Tone Mapping simplify setup with the PS5 and PS5 Pro and help keep colors accurate. At a 120Hz refresh rate, reviews also measured low input lag, making the display an option for competitive shooters.

Many buyers taking advantage of this deal will pair the Bravia 8 with a soundbar or surround sound system. That said, it has an advantage in the audio department over most thin flat panels. The K-77XR8C supports Dolby Atmos, and it can function as a center speaker, reducing clutter.

When looking for alternatives, mid-range OLED TV models like the Samsung S90H are also highly rated. The Samsung candidate benefits from a higher 165Hz refresh rate, but lacks Dolby Vision compatibility. Unfortunately, as Prime Big Deal Days begins, only the 65-inch version comes close to the $1598 sale price of the 77-inch Bravia 8.
