Lenovo releases new ThinkStation desktop globally with 72 GB VRAM and up to 256 GB RAM

A few months have passed since Lenovo launched the ThinkStation P4. Presented in May, the desktop was billed at the time as being configurable with up to AMD's Ryzen 9 Pro 9965X3D processor thanks to the Pro 675 chipset.
A few months later, Lenovo started selling the desktop across Asia, Oceania and North America, including the US (curr. $2,469 on Amazon). Now, the ThinkStation P4 has reached Europe, rounding off its global release in the process.

As in the rest of the world, the Ryzen 9 Pro 9965X3D commands a considerably higher price tag than Lenovo's typical Ryzen 5 Pro 9655. Moreover, one can replace the starting memory combination of 16 GB DDR5-5600 RAM and 512 GB storage with up to 256 GB DDR5-6400 RAM and 48 TB of storage. Please note that Lenovo achieves the latter with three M.2 2280 and 3.5-inch drives apiece.
By default, the ThinkStation P4 runs on integrated graphics. However, one can configure one of seven Nvidia RTX Pro desktop graphics cards, up to and including the RTX Pro 5000. Lenovo is now selling Nvidia's 72 GB VRAM variant too, which was previously unavailable.
Pricing starts at €1,793-€2,530 in the Eurozone and £2,114 in the UK, including taxes. By contrast, the desktop now retails for $1,849 in the US, excluding sales taxes. Adding some of the hardware mentioned increases the ThinkStation P4 to eye-watering levels, though. For instance, the RTX Pro 5000 Blackwell 72 GB is a circa €11,000/£12,000 surcharge alone.
