The Huawei Watch GT 4 is receiving its first Harmony OS 5.0 global update. Version 5.0.0.36(SP1C00M07) is 328 MB in size and has been reported by users in countries including Romania and India so far.
According to the release notes, version 5.0.0.36 brings a refreshed user interface, which the company suggests is more intuitive. There are two new watch faces, Route Beam and Eternal Moment, and Activity rings have been enhanced with further customization options. Users can now download offline maps for their outdoor workouts, and there are wrist-based running metrics such as ground contact time and vertical oscillation. Plus, there is a new watch screenshot feature, a calculator app, and Smart Suggestions, which recommend workouts based on your favourite types of exercise, caloric intake, and the current weather conditions.
On top of this, there are a range of optimizations for screen transitions, push notifications and the accuracy of health metrics. Update version 5.0.0.36(SP1C00M07) appears to be rolling out in phases to the Huawei Watch GT 4 (46mm watch curr. €179 at Amazon). Users will be able to download the software via the Huawei Health app, though it is unclear when it will reach everyone.
