Huawei rolling out new global Watch Ultimate update

Huawei is rolling out a new global update for the Watch Ultimate, version 5.0.0.21(SP1C00M02). It follows the release of firmware version 5.0.0.13, the first global HarmonyOS 5.0 update for the Watch Ultimate.

Firmware version 5.0.0.21(SP1C00M02) has been reported for the standard Huawei Watch Ultimate models in Voyage Blue and Expedition Black (curr. €573 at Amazon DE). However, it does not appear to have reached the Watch Ultimate Green yet. The update is relatively minor, a 36.78 MB file. The change log states that the release brings system stability optimizations to the Watch Ultimate in “certain situations”. Unfortunately, no further information is provided to explain exactly what improvements have been made. 

A notable absence from this 5.0.0.21 update is an NFC payments feature, which was announced for the Watch Ultimate, Watch GT 5 and Watch GT 5 Pro wearables last year. At the time, the company indicated that it would roll out to users in the first six months of 2025. Huawei Watch Ultimate smartwatch users will be able to download firmware version 5.0.0.13(SP2C00M02) and future updates via the Huawei Health app.
