Garmin has been busy with flighting new beta updates for various smartwatch and cycling computer series. To that end, it has just pushed fresh firmware to the Fenix 7 series and all currently supported Forerunner smartwatches.
Now, various sources have got their hands on an overview of Garmin's planned Q1 2025 stable changes ahead of their release later this quarter. Please note that the image below has not been verified yet. As a result, we cannot guarantee that it is free from tampering or photoshopping, even if it matches the design of previous Garmin feature releases.
The new features mentioned are in line with what it has been testing in recent beta builds though, such as Strength Workouts integrated within Garmin's Run and Cycling Coach suites. On the basis of the image embedded below, Strength Workouts should reach all recent Edge cycling computers, most Forerunner smartwatches and the Fenix 8 (curr. $1,099.99 on Amazon) but not the Fenix 7 series or its Enduro, Marq, Quatix and Tactix counterparts.
Garmin may soon be adding Body Battery TrueUp, which syncs body battery data to a single Garmin account for distribution across multiple devices. Moreover, the Q1 2025 update will introduce passcodes, but again, not across the Enduro 2 or Fenix 7 and other related devices. As it sounds, enabling passcodes will lock a supported smartwatch with a custom PIN when it detects that it is no longer being worn. Unfortunately, it is unclear precisely when these new features will be rolled out, beyond sometime this quarter. Please see the graphic below for more details.
