Casio is said to have plans to launch a new and unusual G-Shock model in 2025. Rumors about the watch began after a recent interview with Kikuo Ibe, who is known as the father of G-Shock.
Hirota Masamasa, editor-in-chief of the watch magazine Chronos Japan, spoke to Ibe on the radio show TickTockTalk. The G-Shock inventor spoke of his experience as a Casio engineer, his personal favourite G-Shock watches and his new business school. Towards the end of the discussion, Ibe stated that Casio was "planning to release a surprising G-Shock later this year." Unfortunately, no further information about this model's features or release date was revealed.
It is unclear whether this new G-Shock model could be the recently rumored GAV-01. Sources indicate that four watches, the GAV-01-1A, the GAV-01-2A, the GAV-01-9A and the GAV-01A-8A, could be on the way. Again, there are no details about this possible Casio watch series and no indication as to when the wearables could launch.
The company has already released new watches in 2025, such as the DWE5600JB1A9, a collaboration watch designed with J Balvin. However, this is not an entirely new model; it is preceded by wearables like the DW5600E-1V (curr. $44.97 at Amazon).
