Casio first launched the "My G-Shock" service in October 2021. The service lets fans design their own personalized G-Shock watches by individually selecting various components such as bezels, straps, and display styles. However, nearly two years after its advent, the service faced a major setback in October 2023 due to technical issues, forcing Casio to suspend operations. Now, after months of inactivity, the service is finally back online.
The website includes the choice of different strap materials, bezel finishes, and even screen accents. If you ever wanted a Casio timepiece but could never find your ideal watch that had a certain look, this custom watch service is literally designed for you. To participate, customers need to register for a Casio ID account, after which they can create their designs and place orders. Delivery for customized watches typically takes three to five weeks, as per the website.
During the suspension period, Casio remained tight-lipped about the exact nature of the system-related problems that caused the disruption. However, we can expect the reactivation of the service to bring renewed interest to the service, with the company now aiming to handle orders efficiently to meet anticipated demand.
The "My G-Shock" webpage also features "My G-Shock Gallery", where users can see images of G-Shock watches customized by others. If you're confused about what route to take while you're tailoring your own piece, you can derive some inspiration, or simply recreate one of those designs.
You can try out the "My G-Shock" watch customization service for yourself here. At the time of writing, the service is only available on Casio's Japan website.
