Huawei is rolling out a new global update for the Watch Ultimate smartwatch. Firmware version 5.0.0.23(SP1C00M03) is another HarmonyOS 5.0 update, 36.82 MB in size. HarmonyOS 5.0 arrived for this wearable in December 2024, bringing features like support for offline maps and a new Golf app.
The version 5.0.0.23 update is relatively minor, with two changes for users of the Watch Ultimate. Firstly, there is an improvement for golfers: you can now switch between yards and meters as the unit of measurement for distance on golf courses. Secondly, there are said to be system stability optimizations, though no further details are provided in the change log.
One notable absence in this update is the NFC payment feature. This tool was officially announced in 2024 and has recently arrived for users of the Watch GT 5 and the Watch GT 5 Pro in Europe. It allows them to save card details to the Quicko Wallet, meaning that they can make payments without a smartphone or wallet. It is unclear whether or when this tool could arrive for the Huawei Watch Ultimate.
Version 5.0.0.23 appears to be rolling out in phases, though it is unclear when it will reach all users of the Huawei Watch Ultimate smartwatch (curr. €531.99 at Amazon.de). The firmware can be downloaded via the Huawei Health app when you go to Settings > System & updates > Software updates > Check for updates.
