The Casio G-Shock G-Lide GBX-100S-1 and GBX-100S-2 watches are now available to pre-order in Japan. Rumors about these new wearables started in early April 2025, with images of these products leaked a couple of weeks later.
The G-Lide surf watches have a skeleton (transparent) resin casing, said to mimic “waves sparkling in the sunlight”. The GBX-100S-1 has a black resin strap, while the GBX-100S-2 has a blue resin strap. Both versions have a stainless steel bezel measuring 50.9 mm (~2.0 inches) across.
The GBX-100S watches also have an integrated accelerometer, allowing you to track workout metrics like distance, speed, and pace. These are accompanied by automatic lap, auto pause, and other training-related functions. Bluetooth connectivity allows you to connect the watch to your smartphone, where you can access settings and data logs through the Casio Watches app. Specifically for surfing, there are tools like tide graphs, moon data, and sunrise/sunset times. Other features include support for world time for 38 cities, a stopwatch, a countdown timer and multiple daily alarms. Plus, these shock resistant watches are water resistant to 20 ATM and run for around two years on the replaceable battery.
In Japan, you can pre-order the Casio G-Shock G-Lide GBX-100S-2 and GBX-100S-2 watches for ¥28,600 (~$198) each. These wearables are expected to be released in this market in May. It is unclear whether or when Casio could officially launch these watches in other markets like the US, where you can buy older models like the GBX100-1 for $160.
