New Casio G-Shock GBA-950 watch with GPS feature launches

The first Casio G-Shock GBA-950 Series watches have been launched in Japan. This new model was rumored earlier this year and is available in three colorways: the GBA-950-1A (black), the GBA-950-2A (purple/black), and the GBA-950-7A (white/gray).

The G-Shock GBA-950 is a hybrid sports watch that connects to your phone via Bluetooth for various features and data logs in the Casio Watches app. This also allows the watch to use GPS to track your distance travelled, and you can also measure your pace, record laps with an auto-lap function and track your step count or calorie consumption. Users can select two world time zones, and there is also a stopwatch, a countdown timer and multiple daily alarms. In addition to the time and weekday, the smaller digital displays show information like exercise intensity and track performance against your goals. 

The GBA-950 has luminous elements, and an LED backlight ensures you can read the watch in low lighting. While the GBA-950-1A and the GBA-950-2A have a black watch face and dark digital displays with light figures, the GBA-950-7A has a gray watch face and light displays with dark figures. According to Casio, the integrated bezel and band provide an improved fit for your wrist thanks to the origami-inspired folding engineering technology. The resin watches are water resistant to 20 ATM and have an estimated battery life of two years.

You can now buy the Casio G-Shock GBA-950-1A, GBA-950-2A, and GBA-950-7A watches in Japan for ¥25,300 (~$176). It is currently unclear whether or when this new model could launch in other markets like the US.
