The launch of Samsung's alternative to Motorola's more affordable clamshell foldable from Samsung has been rumoured for some time now. To recap, the device is expected to be a cheaper version of the Galaxy Z Flip7, as the Galaxy S24 FE (curr. $499.99 on Amazon) is to the rest of the Galaxy S24 series. Hence, the device has been commonly known as the Galaxy Z Flip FE or Galaxy Z Flip7 FE in recent leaks.
Much like last year's rumours of a Galaxy Z Fold FE though, the Galaxy Z Flip FE may end up arriving under a completely different name than was previously rumoured. Reportedly, there is an increasing amount of evidence that Samsung's cheaper Galaxy Z Flip will drop the Fan Edition (FE) branding altogether.
According to SamMobile, Samsung's alternative to the new Motorola Razr 60 may actually arrive later this year as the Galaxy Z Flip Xe. As it stands, there is no indication as to what 'Xe' means in the context of Samsung's smartphone division. Nonetheless, the website reports that the name 'Galaxy Z Flip Xe' has now appeared across IMEI databases and even on some network carrier websites.
Regardless of name, Samsung's budget Galaxy Z Flip is expected to launch with an Exynos 2400e chipset and the camera hardware from the Galaxy Z Flip5. The device, codenamed SM-F761, may not be ready until Q4 2025 though, well after Samsung unveils the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 this July.
