The first foldable iPhone will no doubt be expensive and according to the latest leaks, it could start around $2,100 to $2,300 US. It is also believed to omit Face ID and stick with Touch ID instead.

The rumored iPhone Fold (unofficial name) has become quite a popular subject with new leaks and rumors coming out almost every day. However, the expected price for the phone has not been touched, till now. A new leak suggests that Apple’s first foldable iPhone could cost over $2,100, putting it a about $1,000 over the base iPhone 16 Pro Max. In comparison, Samsung’s first foldable was extremely expensive as well, just under $2,000.

The information comes from known Chinese leaker ‘Instant Digital’ (or Setsuna Digital – machine translated) over at Weibo who shared that the foldable iPhone is estimated to start somewhere between $2,100 and $2,300 US. While this seems like an extremely high price for a smartphone, it is not much higher than Samsung’s first foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold, which launched at $1,980. The current gen Galaxy Z Fold 6 is priced at $1,899 for the 256GB model.

Being the first foldable from Apple, a high price is to be expected. If the leak turns out to be true, this would put the alleged iPhone Fold at almost double the price of the 256GB iPhone 16 Pro Max. And, considering the leaker calls this the starting price for the foldable iPhone, the larger storage capacity models could go up to $2,700 or even higher.

The foldable iPhone is said to carry a book-style design similar to the Galaxy Z Fold series and, according to recent leaks, feature a 7.76-inch 2,713x1,920 inner display with an under-display camera and a 5.49-inch 2,088x1,422 outer display with a hole-punch selfie camera. Digital Chat Station also mentions that the inner display will not support Face ID, which falls in line with analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s expectations of Touch ID rather than Face ID on the foldable iPhone.
