Nubia has updated its RedMagic gaming smartphone series with the 10 Air, which it positions as a cheaper and thinner alternative to the existing RedMagic 10 Pro (curr. $749 on Amazon). Accordingly, the RedMagic 10 Air comes in at 7.85 mm, compared to 8.9 mm for the RedMagic 10 Pro. Also, the newer model is 24 g and 10% lighter than the RedMagic 10 Pro.
Nonetheless, the RedMagic 10 Air still finds itself with a 6,000 mAh battery that supports 80 W wired charging. The new smartphone carries over the 50 MP and 1/1.56-inch primary camera from the RedMagic 10 Pro too, as well as the latter's 50 MP ultra-wide-angle and 16 MP under-panel front-facing cameras. However, the RedMagic 10 Air falls short of the RedMagic 10 Pro in a few areas.
For example, RedMagic has swapped out the Snapdragon 8 Elite that powers the RedMagic 10 Pro for the older Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Also, it has installed a smaller, slower, dimmer and lower resolution panel than the one found in the RedMagic 10 Pro. Specifically, the RedMagic 10 Air has a 6.8-inch AMOLED display that outputs at 2,480 x 1,116 pixels with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 1,600 nits peak brightness.
With that being said, the RedMagic 10 Air contains other innovative features like dedicated shoulder buttons, a 360-degree antenna design and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity. Nubia has only confirmed availability in China for the time being, where the RedMagic 10 Air starts at CNY 3,499 (~$479) with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Please note that the orange variant is only available with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage for CNY 4,399 (~$602). Typically, Nubia eventually releases its RedMagic gaming smartphones globally too, though.
