The choice of chipsets Samsung is expected to use for its upcoming smartphones has been a hot topic lately. From reports of a return to Exynos for the Galaxy S26 series to news of the Galaxy S25 FE having a MediaTek chipset. Now, another report has surfaced with respect to the chipset that will power the Galaxy Z Flip 7.
Last month, a leak revealed that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will launch with the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy under its hood. According to that source, the device had passed all internal tests including network connectivity tests. Now, another source says the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will have Samsung's own Exynos 2500 powering it. This new info comes from X user Jukanlosreve (@Jukanlosreve), the same source that recently disclosed the European version of the Galaxy S26 series will be powered by the Exynos 2600.
This new report goes in line with earlier reports that revealed the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will actually have an Exynos 2500 processor. One of those reports stated that a Samsung official disclosed the Exynos 2500 wasn't used in the Galaxy S25 (currently available on Amazon for $714.99) as enough couldn't be produced in time but that it will be used in 'premium models' of the Galaxy Z Flip series.
However, it is also possible that the news of Samsung testing the Galaxy Z Flip 7 powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy is correct as there is a likelihood Samsung plans to launch two processor variants of the phone, just as it used to do with its flagship phones years ago. This Snapdragon variant may be sold in markets such as China and the USA while Europe gets the Exynos 2500 variant.
In addition to the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Samsung is also expected to launch a cheaper model that will be sold as the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. According to Jukanlosreve, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE will not have an Exynos processor. This also goes in line with a leak that revealed the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE will have the same specs as last year's Galaxy Z Flip 6 which has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.
Going by last year's calendar, Samsung should start teasing the new Galaxy Z series next month and then unveil them in July. However, more concrete evidence of the chipsets powering the phones should surface before the launch.
