Peacemaker season 2 twist forces Fortnite to remove the "Nazi" peaceful hips emote

Peacemaker Season 2 has shaken up the media and gaming industry with its latest reveal that Earth-2 is actually set in a dystopian fascist alternative universe known as Earth-X. This has prompted Fortnite’s Peacemaker Peaceful Hips emote to be immediately removed from the game, due to the emote bearing a slight resemblance to a Swastika.

Peacemaker’s Season 2 Episode 6, “Ignorance is Chris,” aired on September 26, 2025, where Peacemaker and the viewers saw the U.S. flag reimagined with a swastika replacing the stars. Adding to the shock, this universe did not feature any individuals of African descent, showing that America has turned into a white supremacist stronghold.

Fans had been piecing together the subtle foreshadowing throughout the season on social media, as the symbolism ramped up in key episodes. From the opening credits, John Cena’s Peacemaker gyrated through dance moves to Foxy Shazam’s “Oh Lord.” At one point, his arm briefly thrust to form a shape resembling a Swastika, similar to Donald Duck’s 1943 Nazi propaganda short, where Donald Duck performed an identical move under duress. 

This subtle foreshadowing was deliberately planned by showrunner James Gunn, who kept details of episode 6 under wraps even from close collaborators, which resulted in the Nazi flag reveal, leaving collaborators and viewers in shock.

That’s where Fortnite enters the picture. Fortnite launched the Peacemaker bundle along with the Peaceful Hips emote onto the Item Shop for 2,000 V-Bucks, with the emote alone costing 400 V-Bucks. 

Epic Games innocently recreated the exact opening dance steps. What began as a light-hearted collaboration with DC Studios quickly took on loaded implications, as the dance is now dubbed the “Nazi Emote” by users online. Epic Games, caught off guard, despite close ties with Warner Bros. and DC, quickly took the emote down and issued a statement on its Fortnite X account on September 28, which has now been deleted:

“We’re disabling the Peaceful Hips Emote in Fortnite as we inquire into our partner’s creative intentions in this collab emote. Assuming it’s not coming back, we’ll issue refunds in the next few days. Sorry, folks.”

This revelation has left Epic reaching out directly to James Gunn’s DC Studios for clarity amid the showrunners' secrecy regarding its plot, which even left partners in the dark about the season’s back half.
