The OnePlus 15 is expected to launch this month in China. Ahead of the official release, the company has revealed the details of the phone's display. Earlier, a leak suggested that the device would feature BOE's next-gen screen. This has now been confirmed as the company has officially announced that the OnePlus 15 will feature BOE's upcoming third-generation Oriental screen.
Writing on the Chinese social media site Weibo, Louis Lee, the president of OnePlus China, noted that OnePlus is collaborating again with BOE, a Chinese display manufacturer. For reference, the OnePlus 13 featured the second-generation Oriental screen. A reveal event for the new BOE display is scheduled for October 14 at 14:30 local time in Shenzhen, China.
Ahead of the unveiling event, key highlights of the OnePlus 15's display have also been revealed. Firstly, the display will support a 165Hz refresh rate with high resolution. For reference, the ROG Phone 8 Pro featured a 165Hz screen, but with an FHD+ resolution. The OnePlus 15 is expected to have a slightly higher 1.5K resolution.
Furthermore, the new BOE display on the OnePlus 15 is set to achieve an A++ rating. This comes as no surprise, as the OnePlus 13's BOE display also received an A++ certification from DisplayMate. Notably, the screen is also said to recieve TÜV Rheinland Intelligent Eye Care 5.0 certification with a "gold standard" rating. Finally, the OnePlus 15 is confirmed to have a 1-nit minimum brightness capability for comfortable viewing in dark environments.
OnePlus is yet to confirm other metrics for the display. However, leaks suggest that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5-powered phone will opt for a smaller display with a 6.78-inch panel compared to its predecessor’s 6.82-inch panel. In separate news, the release timeline and key specifications of the compact OnePlus 15T have been leaked.
