Xiaomi has just released the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max to directly rival the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Exclusive to China at launch, Xiaomi has not offered any indication about whether the three smartphones will be available. In the meantime, the Xiaomi 17 series can already be purchased via importers.
Based on early evidence, Xiaomi may only have limited international plans for the Xiaomi 17 series, too. To recap, Xiaomi elected against releasing the Xiaomi 15 Pro globally. Instead, the company waited until it launched the Xiaomi 15 Ultra during MWC 2025 before offering the Xiaomi 15 internationally (curr. $890 on Amazon).
According to Kacper Srzypek, HyperOS 3 code only shows the global version of the Xiaomi 17. Incidentally, a major change could be in store for the Xiaomi 17 outside China, too. By contrast, neither the Xiaomi 17 Pro or Xiaomi 17 Pro Max are listed in the same code. As a result, it seems that Xiaomi's innovative secondary display will remain limited to China unless one is prepared to import them from running Chinese software from third party suppliers.
