Last year, Huawei launched the Nova Flip as an affordable clamshell foldable smartphone, although its starting price of CNY 5288 (~$741/€634) wasn't so affordable when compared to other foldables like the Infinix Zero Flip, which launched a month later, but cost $600. Nevertheless, a new report has revealed details of a successor which will launch as the Huawei Nova Flip S.
The Huawei Nova Flip S has been spotted in China Telecom's database. The documents reveal the phone has the model number PSD-AL80 and will be available in three configurations: 12GB RAM + 256GB, 12GB RAM + 512GB, and 12GB RAM + 1TB. These are the same configurations announced for the Nova Flip.
The documents also reveal the Nova Flip S will have a (main) display resolution of 1920 x 1200 which is unusual as it translates into a 16:10 aspect ratio like the display of the Huawei Pura X. Many clamshell foldables including the Nova Flip have a 22:9 aspect ratio, so unless the Huawei Nova Flip S will be launching with a similar form factor as the Pura X, it is best to take that resolution with a pinch of salt.
Another important detail spotted on the database is the color options. The Huawei Nova Flip S will be announced in six colors, four of which are the same as those of the Nova Flip. The colors are Sakura Pink, Zero White, Sky Blue, Star Black, Feather Sand Black, and New Green.
The rest of the details are unknown, but more information should surface as the launch date draws near. When it does arrive, it will take on rival affordable clamshell foldables such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE (available on Amazon for $759.99).
