Huawei Nova 14i packs 7,000mAh into a gigantic 7-inch smartphone
Huawei is expanding the Nova 14 series with the Nova 14i, which features a 6.95-inch screen and relatively thick bezels, which means that it’s not compact by any means. The device measures approximately 6.77 x 3.15 x 0.35 inches and weighs 7.6 oz. For those willing to carry a smartphone of this size, it does offer a large display and a similarly large battery in return.
The Nova 14i sports an IPS panel with a resolution of 2376 x 1080 pixels, a refresh rate of 90Hz and a touch sampling rate of 270Hz. Huawei has not provided any details regarding brightness. That being said, the 7,000mAh battery supposedly provides up to 26 hours of video or 31 hours of audio playback. The 8MP f/2.0 front-facing camera is placed in a large notch that’s reminiscent of older iPhones.
The circular camera bump on the back contains a 50MP f/1.8 main camera and a 2MP sensor that captures depth information for portrait mode. Furthermore, this new Huawei smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 with four Cortex-A73 performance cores and four Cortex-A53 efficiency cores. It also comes with 8GB RAM and between 128GB and 256GB of mass storage. The fingerprint sensor is located on the side of the device.
Price and availability
Huawei has yet to confirm the price and release date of the Nova 14i. Specifications can be found on Huawei’s website. Since the Nova 12i and Nova 13 were also offered in Europe, there is a good chance the Nova 14i will be launched in markets outside China.
