Huawei recently unveiled a new foldable smartphone with a fairly affordable price tag: The base configuration of the Nova Flip S is currently listed at around $475 after currency conversion. However, this is an introductory price that only applies to the Chinese market. The phone’s international availability and pricing have yet to be revealed. Consumers can reasonably expect to pay higher prices if the Nova Flip S is ever released globally or purchased via direct import. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 (available on Amazon) may be a higher-priced option for those seeking a phone with a similar form factor.
When folded, the Nova Flip S measures 15.12 mm (0.60 in) thick and 87.76 mm (3.46 in) long. Its 6.94-inch inner display boasts a resolution of 2,690 x 1,136 pixels, whilst the external screen spans 2.14 inches diagonally. Both panels utilise OLED technology. The phone features a 50 MP main shooter, an 8 MP ultrawide camera, and a 32 MP front-facing camera.
Huawei’s official product page doesn’t specify the processor powering the Nova Flip S, which is available with either 256 GB or 512 GB of storage. Despite having a modest 4,400 mAh battery, the phone supports 66-watt fast charging over a wired connection. A side-mounted fingerprint sensor provides biometric authentication. The phone runs Huawei’s HarmonyOS 5.1, which unsurprisingly includes software features designed to take advantage of the outer display, such as quick access to the camera and calendar apps.
