It seems that not all versions of HyperOS 3 are created equal. Based on early findings, some HyperOS 3 may not offer Xiaomi's new Hyper Island functionality on Redmi Note and cheaper models, which borrows heavily from Apple's Dynamic Island implementation.

Xiaomi has now launched HyperOS 3 globally after showcasing its latest mobile operating system (OS) last month in China. As with rivals like Apple, Google and Samsung, Xiaomi has opened a Beta Program for intrepid fans to try out and help shape HyperOS 3 before its full stable release.

While Samsung often leaves owners in the dark about its One UI rollout schedules, Xiaomi has already published its Chinese and global release plans for HyperOS 3. As we have covered separately, Xiaomi has included dozens of devices across both OS distributions, including some of those it has just released like the Xiaomi 15T and Xiaomi 15T Pro. Unfortunately, it seems that some older and cheaper models will miss out on a HyperOS 3 feature that Xiaomi advertises prominently.

As PaperKing13 discusses on X, even devices like the Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus (curr. $416 on Amazon) may not officially support Xiaomi's new Hyper Island functionality. Seemingly, not all versions of HyperOS 3 are created equal. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen at this point whether Xiaomi will restrict some of HyperOS 3's new features to high-end devices, too. One can read more about the discrepancy on HyperCeiler's GitHub. Currently, the Redmi Note 14 series should start receiving HyperOS 3 globally next month in Xiaomi's first batch of eligible devices. Conversely, the older Redmi Note 13 series may not gain access to Xiaomi's new mobile OS until early next year.
