A few months have now passed since Zinwa showcased its takes on classic BlackBerry form factors. Both revealed in September, the P26 Kit and Q27 were quite different in implementation. On the one hand, the P26 Kit transformed the BlackBerry Passport with new hardware. On the other hand, the Q27 appeared to be an entirely new device.
Now, a short video highlighting prototypes of the latter has surfaced on social media. Embedded below, the video reveals that Zinwa is developing the Q27 in two colours that depart from the concept it shared in September. For instance, although the physical keyboard remains, a different capacitive touch bar row now sits above it. Despite the physical home button making its way into these prototypes too, it is now a square rather than a squircle.
For some reason, Zinwa has moved the front-facing camera position to the left of the Q27's speaker, while ditching the top-mounted button altogether. The Q27 features a glossy rear panel, as the image above shows. Also, Zinwa has included a single rear-facing camera, allegedly a 50 MP sensor. Meanwhile, the small front-facing camera is said to output at 16 MP.
Currently, Zinwa anticipates releasing the Q27 in Q2 2026 at the earliest. In the meantime, it has already indicated that the device leverages a 3.92-inch and 1080p AMOLED display coupled with a 3,500 or 4,000 mAh battery. Reportedly, the Q27 will feature a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset too, which should make it about as powerful as smartphones like the Motorola Edge 60, the Redmi Note 14 Pro and the Poco X7 (curr. $282.99 on Amazon).
Not a Blackberry, but here's the prototype of Zinwa's upcoming new phone
