Huawei reveals next-gen Mate 80 series and Mate X7 launch date

The Huawei Mate series is a flagship lineup of smartphones. The Chinese tech giant has now officially confirmed the Mate 80 series, the successor to last year's Mate 70 lineup. Additionally, the company has confirmed that it will launch the Mate X7, a high-end foldable offering.

The release date for the Mate 80 series and the Mate X7 is set for November 25 in China. Meanwhile, a new video posted by Yu Chengdong, the CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group, gives a first look at one of the phones in the Mate 80 series.

The phone in the teaser video is likely the rumored Mate 80 Pro Max model, which may replace the Plus variant. It comes in a gold finish with a familiar circular rear camera module. Notably, it appears to have a second circular cutout, which could be Huawei's version of MagSafe for attaching magnetic accessories. For reference, the predecessor Mate 70 series consisted of several models: the standard Mate 70, Mate 70 Pro, Mate 70 Pro+, and the Mate 70 RS Ultimate.

As for the Mate X7, it will succeed last year's Mate X6 flagship foldable smartphone. A recent leak suggested that the new Mate X7 will have a major makeover. It is rumored to feature a 7.95-inch inner display with a 2K resolution. The Mate 80 series and the Mate X7 are expected to be powered by the new Kirin 9030 processor with up to 20GB of RAM.
