The Galaxy XR is finally here, and while it’s not cheap at around $1,799, Samsung is offering a bundle that makes the purchase a bit easier to justify. Buyers who get the headset before the end of 2025 will receive an “Explorer Pack” valued at up to $1,000. The package includes 12 months of Google AI Pro, YouTube Premium, and Google Play Pass, plus access to the 2025–2026 NBA League Pass season, a three-month YouTube TV trial for one dollar per month, and several XR-optimized apps like Adobe Project Pulsar, NFL PRO ERA, Asteroid, and Calm.
The offer isn’t a direct price cut, but it helps offset some of the high upfront cost. Accessories such as the controllers and travel case are still sold separately for about $500 combined, which makes the overall investment higher. Even so, the Galaxy XR remains far cheaper than the Apple Vision Pro, which launched at $3,499. Buyers can also spread payments over 12 months at about $149 each.
The headset features micro-OLED displays with a 3,552 by 3,840 resolution and runs on the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 processor with 256 GB of storage. It weighs 545 grams, plus another 302 grams for the battery pack, and lasts roughly two and a half hours on a charge. It runs on Google’s Android XR platform, which promises tighter integration with Android devices and Google’s apps, though the ecosystem is still new.
While the Galaxy XR’s pricing and accessory costs make it a serious purchase, the Explorer Pack adds genuine value for those who plan to use the headset often. The bundle of streaming, gaming, and productivity apps makes it easier to start using the device immediately, and Samsung’s payment plan softens the financial hit. For now, it’s an appealing option for anyone ready to step into mixed reality with Samsung, though more casual users may want to wait for prices to settle and the platform to mature.
