Motorola refrained from launching many high-end smartphones this year, despite the wealth of Edge and Razr models it has brought to market in the last few months. As it stands, the Razr 60 Ultra, sold as the Razr Ultra 2025 in North America (curr. $999 on Amazon), is the only smartphone Motorola has released this year that takes advantage of flagship silicon.
With 2025 now entering its final few weeks, rumours have begun to emerge about Motorola planning to return to the high-end smartphone market in 2026. For instance, Motorola was recently tipped to deliver the Edge 70 Ultra with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. Subsequently, that exact configuration was then spotted on Geekbench packing 16 GB of RAM too.
According to Smart Pikachu, new Razr smartphones will not be far behind either. Writing on Weibo, the popular account reports that Motorola plans to deliver Razr 70 foldables as direct successors to the Razr 60 duo currently available, or the Razr 2025 trio if you are in North America. Arguably, that much could be expected, as could Motorola's adoption of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and or Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipsets.
However, Smart Pikachu adds that Motorola has adjusted the Razr's aspect ratio for the Razr 70 generation. As it stands, Motorola's clamshells are slightly taller and thicker but narrower than Samsung's competing Galaxy Z Flip7. With Samsung reportedly looking to slim down the Galaxy Z Flip with the Galaxy Z Flip8, it seems that Motorola is plotting a design overhaul of its own. Unfortunately, more details about the probable Razr 70 and Razr 70 Ultra remain unknown for now.
