Unlike the Edge 60 series, the Edge 70 series will have an ultra model that will be sold as the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra. While there are a lot of unknown details, a renowned leaker has disclosed the chipset that will power the Motorola flagship.

Earlier this month, a device alleged to be the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra was spotted on Geekbench with an unspecified Snapdragon processor. Now, a reliable leaker has confirmed the processor that will appear in the flagship.

According to Evan Blass, the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra, which is codenamed Urus, will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor that was announced a few days ago. The info shared by Evan Blass matches an earlier report from another leaker. That source, X user @ZionsAnvin, also provided a few more details of the smartphone.

According to him, the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra will have an OLED panel with a 1.5K resolution and a periscope telephoto camera. However, the rest of the specs are unknown, but like its predecessors, we expect it to have super-fast wired and fast wireless charging.

The Motorola Edge 70 Ultra is highly anticipated as Motorola follows a biennial release for the Edge series' Ultra model. The last model was the 2024 Motorola Edge 50 Ultra (available on Amazon.de for €607.90), and before that was the Edge 30 Ultra, released in 2022, which means there wasn't an Edge 40 Ultra or an Edge 60 Ultra.

There's no launch date yet for the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra. However, based on OnePlus's claim that the OnePlus 15R will be the world's first Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 smartphone, and with its launch date set for December 17, we can expect the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra to arrive afterwards.
