Samsung finally presented the Galaxy Z TriFold after months of speculation about how its first tri-foldable had taken shape. Rivalling the Huawei Mate XT and Mate XTs, the Galaxy Z TriFold will reach select markets next week with a circa ~$2,400 launch price in South Korea (KRW 3,590,5400). In the meantime, Yasuhiro Yamane has provided a hands-on look at the Galaxy Z TriFold before it goes on sale.
Ultimately, the first few seconds of the video emphasise just how closely the device resembles the Galaxy Z Fold7 in its folded state. However, beneath the 6.5-inch cover display lies a circa 10-inch panel that provides significantly more real estate than the 8-inch equivalent inside the Galaxy Z Fold7 (curr. $1,529 on Amazon).
Apparently, the Galaxy Z TriFold feels relatively light when unfolded despite its 309 g weight. Likewise, a 3.9 mm thickness makes the device considerably thinner than equivalently sized tablets, too. Setting aside the terrible auto-dubbing, the video highlights some multitasking features specific to the Galaxy Z TriFold.
For instance, Samsung allows the device to run three apps side-by-side. Also, switching between Samsung DeX and One UI modes seems seamless. With that being said, the Galaxy Z TriFold retains One UI's other foldable multitasking features like running two apps in smaller windows next to one that occupies half of its foldable display.
