Leaker Yogesh Brar has offered new insights into the whereabouts of the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra internationally. For reference, Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi 17 in China almost two months ago alongside the Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. Meanwhile, the company is tipped to unveil the Xiaomi 17 Ultra during the Christmas period.
According to Brar, Xiaomi is now testing the Xiaomi 17 Ultra in India. Based on previous reports, the device should eventually reach India with the model number 2512BPNDAI, with 2512BPNDAC and 2512BPNDAG model numbers assigned to Chinese and global variants, respectively. Writing on X, Brar adds that Xiaomi is also testing an Indian variant of the Xiaomi 17 to replace the Xiaomi 15 already sold there (curr. $879 on Amazon).
Unfortunately, Brar's tweet reiterates that neither the Xiaomi 17 Pro nor the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max will officially make their way out of China. In other words, Xiaomi's innovative secondary display technology will not be available globally. Currently, Brar expects Xiaomi to launch the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra by March 2026, too.
For context, this tallies with previous suggestions that the pair will debut internationally between March 2 and March 5 during MWC 2026 in Barcelona. At this stage, it seems that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra's early launch will not translate to its global release.
