After releasing the Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max back in September, Xiaomi is set to launch its most premium smartphone for this generation, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. Apparently, this phone could be even closer to launch than rumored.
According to leaker Smart Pikachu, Xiaomi is readying the Xiaomi 17 Ultra to debut this month. That would be a rather surprising move, with February being the earliest any previous "Ultra" model in the lineup has been released. Supposedly, pre-orders for the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will begin between December 15 and December 25, with mutterings across Weibo hinting at a potential December 18 announcement.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is tipped to arrive with a 1-inch type main camera, effectively making it the last flagship phone retaining that feature. That said, most reports indicate it will give up its secondary zoom camera in favor of a single, upgraded zoom snapper.
Like its siblings, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and is rumored to be launching with a price tag mostly unchanged from the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. It must be noted, though, that while the Xiaomi 17 Ultra could launch shortly in China, it's unlikely to hit the global market before February, where it could debut alongside other Xiaomi 17 series phones at MWC.
