Deal | Darkest Dungeon meets guerrilla warfare: Strategy RPG hits $7.59 for the first time on Steam

Anyone who enjoys Darkest Dungeon and is looking for a similarly structured roguelike RPG with an unusual setting may find plenty to like in Home Behind 2. Instead of fighting monsters, players lead a guerrilla force against a dictatorial regime. The strategy RPG is currently 62% off on Steam, bringing the regular price down from $19.99 to $7.59. According to SteamDB, this marks a new all-time low – albeit only slightly cheaper than the previous 60% discount.

Since Home Behind 2 is a prequel set 10 years before the events of the first game, players should have no trouble getting into the story without any prior knowledge. The game is set in the fictional country of Scadia, which is ruled by the dictator Akadullah. However, resistance among the population is steadily growing. Players take on the role of Banan, a student who helps drive the revolution forward with a ragtag guerrilla force.

With a squad of three fighters that can be individually reconfigured throughout the game, players explore randomly generated areas, collect equipment and capture oil fields and cities. There are 36 classes to choose from, each with different abilities. Unlike in Darkest Dungeon, battles play out largely automatically, but can be paused at any time to issue tactical commands and use special abilities. Between missions, players expand their revolutionary base, conduct research, cook and craft new equipment. Another plus: The system requirements are very low, meaning the game also runs on the Steam Deck.

Movies, Games and Tech awarded Home Behind 2 a score of 7 out of 10. The reviewers describe the gameplay loop as highly engaging and also praise the game's wealth of content. However, exploration sections can occasionally drag, while combat may become repetitive over time. The dialogue was also less convincing. According to the reviewers, it often feels overly dramatic and doesn't fit the game's overall tone. The roughly 7,200 Steam reviews are nevertheless quite positive, with an average rating of 86%.
