Skill points are unlimited in the Shadow Dungeon's late game, which is what makes hybrid builds extremely viable.
Shadow Dungeon launched on 26 August for $8.99, promising no seasonal resets, no item nerfs and no microtransactions. OO Cat's retro loot RPG packs seven chapters, 370-plus skills and over 100 million generated items.

Shadow Dungeon came out on Steam on 26 August 2026, developed and self-published by OO Cat. A 10% introductory discount brings it from $9.99 to $8.99 until 9 September, and a demo is available as well.

The pitch is unambiguously similar to Diablo 2. The store page describes a retro dark gothic style based on the golden age of loot-driven RPGs around the year 2000, and the structure follows that same formula. There are seven chapters across more than 160 maps, four classes — sorcerer, holy warrior, archer and necromancer — with 12 talent trees and over 370 skills between them. Also, Shadow Dungeon features more than 60 bosses and 200 distinct monsters.

OO Cat advertises over 100 million pieces of equipment, generated semi-randomly from 3,200 base templates — more than half of all drops carry additional skills that interact with talent choices. Plus skill points are unlimited in the late game, which is what makes hybrid builds extremely viable. Even more important than the numbers is the positioning. The store page explicitly commits to no seasonal resets, no retroactive nerfs to earned items, and no microtransactions. It is a deliberate stance against how most loot games now operate. Planned free upgrades include four more classes, a mercenary system, runes and tower defense challenges.

Another unusual detail for a game at this price is the fact that it ships with full voice acting in all 24 supported languages, alongside interface and subtitle localization. Hardware demands are quite modest as well. Minimum requirements include an i5-4460 or Ryzen 5 2400G, 8 GB of RAM, a GTX 960 or RX 460 and 10 GB of storage. Recommended moves to an i7-6700, 16 GB and an RTX 2060.

Shadow Dungeon is Windows-only and single-player, with no Steam Achievements and no listed controller support.
