Steam Frame could launch before September 14 as developers get notified about an upcoming Steam VR sale

Fans were expecting Valve to reveal the Steam Frame's price and release date during the company's 30th anniversary on August 24. However, the milestone came and went without any announcement. Despite that, it now looks like the VR headset's launch could be very close.
A VR game developer recently shared what appears to be an invitation email from Valve regarding the upcoming Steam VR Sale for Fall 2026. According to the email, the sale is scheduled to run from September 14 to September 21. This is interesting because Valve did not mention it in Steam 2026's sales and events schedule.
The event will feature discounts on VR games, and Valve is asking developers whether they want to participate by offering discounts on their titles during the sale. While the email does not mention the Steam Frame, its timing has caught the attention of fans who have been waiting for Valve's headset.
Some are now speculating that the Steam Frame could launch before September 14, allowing users to pick up compatible VR games during the sale and immediately play them on the new headset. It would also give Valve a chance to launch the hardware ahead of an event specifically focused on VR games.
That said, the Steam VR sale can still happen regardless of when the Steam Frame launches. Valve has already been preparing the platform for the headset by expanding the Great on Frame category on Steam.
The list has now grown to more than 80 games, giving potential buyers an idea of which titles are expected to work well on the Steam Frame based on their compatibility ratings. This means players can already start building a list of games they'd like to pick up during the upcoming sale, even though Valve has yet to reveal the headset's price or release date.
