Deal | This 15-inch Lenovo laptop with 16 GB RAM and 120 Hz display is now 48% cheaper

Courtesy of an ongoing sale over at Lenovo's US online store, the recently unveiled IdeaPad Slim 5x laptop is now available with a massive 48% discount, bringing its price down to just $775.5 for a limited time.

This specific variant of the laptop sports the Snapdragon X2 Plus X2P-42 SoC paired with 16 GB of LPDDR5X-9523 RAM and 512 GB of PCIe Gen 4 storage. A 15.3-inch 1200p IPS display with 120 Hz refresh rate is also present.

The Snapdragon X2 Plus SoC is quite a capable chip and can easily keep up with an AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS APU in multi-threaded synthetic benchmarks. That said, real-world performance will heavily depend on the specific application that customers wish to run.

Windows on ARM is still very much in its infancy, with a large number of popular and professional applications still requiring emulation layers to be able to run on ARM-based hardware. Of course, there is no denying that there are plenty of folks whose workflows are limited to a browser. For such people, the X2 Plus SoC will be more than enough for most moderately intensive workloads.

The Adreno X2-45 iGPU is alright for basic workloads, but can only keep up with a Radeon 760M iGPU. Lightweight gaming should be doable on the laptop, at the mercy of emulation layers for the majority of titles, of course.

PCWorld had the opportunity to review this exact variant of the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5x and was left mostly impressed by it, considering its price point. The 1200p, 120 Hz IPS display with touch support is definitely not among the best that money can buy, but it's more than enough for almost any content consumption requirement. Lenovo also claims 100% coverage of the sRGB color gamut.

The panel was found to peak at around 400 nits of brightness, which may not be enough for outdoor usage. The 180° hinge may not be a life changer for most people, but it does come in handy every now and then.

Other notable features of the laptop include:

• A 1080p IR webcam with privacy shutter
• A pretty decent dual-microphone array
• Dual 2-watt speakers with decent audio clarity
• Dual 5 Gbps USB-A ports, dual 10 Gbps USB-C ports with up to 65 W of power delivery
• HDMI 2.1, microSD slot
• WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4

The IdeaPad Slim 5x laptop sports a rather small 54.7 Wh battery, but PC World did find that the laptop keeps up with its competition, lasting over 20 hours in their 4K video playback test.

Unsurprisingly, the RAM is soldered and not user-upgradable. The storage, thankfully, is user-upgradable courtesy of its M.2 2242 housing.

At its current price on Lenovo's official e-store, the IdeaPad Slim 5x laptop definitely provides a lot of value for folks who do not mind the compatibility woes that come with Snapdragon-powered PCs and laptops in 2026.
