Casio’s new G-Steel watches ditch the metal bracelet for resin
Casio’s resin-strap G-Steel GST-B1000-1A and GST-B1000-2A are expanding across Europe, offering lighter 58g builds and a lower €349 price than their full-metal counterparts. Both models retain G-Shock durability while retaining Tough Solar charging, Bluetooth, and 200-meter water resistance.

In early August, Casio unveiled two sportier G-Steel watches in the form of the G-Shock GST-B1000-1A and GST-B1000-2A. The new offerings swap the stainless steel band found on the full-metal GST-B1000BD models for a lightweight resin strap. After making their way to the UK a few weeks back, the duo has now officially landed in Europe.

The new G-Shock GST-B1000-1A and GST-B1000-2A are now up on Casio’s websites across Europe, including Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Portugal. The B1000-1A features a black dial paired with a stainless steel case, while the B1000-2A comes with a metallic blue dial. Both are priced at €349 (for reference, the full-metal GST-B1000BD costs €449) and are currently listed as “coming soon,” with official sales expected to commence in the coming days. There’s no pre-order window, but Casio does let you sign up for email alerts to get notified when the watches go on sale.

At 58g, the new models weigh almost half as much as their full-metal siblings, which come in at 118g. The case dimensions remain unchanged at 46.9 × 44.2 × 11.6mm, and you still get the signature G-Shock toughness with shock resistance, 200-meter water resistance, and a metal-reinforced bezel. Casio says the brick pattern on the dial is inspired by the original DW-5000C, while two subdials—a 24-hour subdial at 3 o’clock and a multifunction subdial tucked between 6 and 8 o’clock—keep things busy without going overboard.

On the inside, the watches pack Casio’s Tough Solar charging system and Bluetooth connectivity. Pair them with the CASIO WATCHES app and you'll get access to automatic time adjustment, easier clock settings, and a phone-finder feature. There’s also a stopwatch, countdown timer, daily alarm, Super Illuminator LED, and day-and-date display

It’s still unclear when Casio plans to roll out the resin-strap GST-B1000 models to the US.
