Casio G-Steel GST-W1000: First real-life photos show off new design and metal bezel construction

Casio recently took the wraps off three brand-new G-Steel watches with the launch of the GST-W1000D-1A, GST-W1000D-3A, and GST-W1000AD-2A. Casio’s official announcement wasn’t short on product shots, with the product page for each model offering plenty of renders. Now, a fresh batch of real-life photos (via @Geesgshock on Instagram) gives us a much better sense of how all three models look in the real world.
The GST-W1000 takes G-Steel in a noticeably more refined direction. Its stainless steel case has a broad, octagonal profile, with the bezel, lugs, and bracelet end links flowing together into what looks like a surprisingly cohesive package. The close-up shots highlight the mix of polished and hairline-brushed surfaces, and we can clearly see city codes printed around the upper bezel, something that wasn’t super clear in the official imagery.
These shots also do a great job showcasing the actual color of the dial. As you can see in the attached images, all three have a striking metallic sheen, with the green model opting for a more subdued, military-inspired character. The black ion-plated bezel on the blue GST-W1000AD-2A helps set it apart from the other two and adds a nice contrast to the dial.
All three watches feature a layered, radial-textured surface with three recessed subdials, oversized baton-style indices, and long, sharply defined hour and minute hands. A date window sits around 4 o’clock, while the subdials handle additional timekeeping functions.
One of the photos also offers a look at the watch’s construction, showing the separate bezel components, carbon-fiber-reinforced case, movement, and stainless steel caseback laid out individually.
For the uninitiated, the GST-W1000 is powered by a new solar-powered Tough MVT.2 movement with automatic hand-position correction and offers Multi-band 6 automatic timekeeping, Bluetooth, sapphire crystal, 200-meter water resistance, and a screw-down crown.
The new lineup is set to go on sale in Japan later this month. The blue/black GST-W1000AD-2A is priced at ¥115,500, while the GST-W1000D-1A and GST-W1000D-2A will retail for ¥110,500. The trio is confirmed to launch globally, but there’s no word on exact availability just yet.
