Casio's new GST-W1000 G-Steel has been announced to be launching in three references this October, built from four separately finished metal components rather than a single bezel. The dial is nano-processed at Yamagata Casio, and Tough MVT. 2 adds automatic hand-position correction.

Casio has just announced the GST-W1000, and it's a G-Steel that practically changes how the metal exterior is assembled. Three references are listed for October: the black GST-W1000D-1A, the green GST-W1000D-3A, and the GST-W1000AD-2A, the latter of which gets a blue dial with a black ion-plated bezel.

Where G-Steel has previously used a single bezel component covering the centre case, the GST-W1000 combines four separately finished metal parts. Casio also conceals the side mounting screws while not compromising on shock resistance — thanks to this, the surface looks like it's transitioning smoothly from bezel into bracelet. Four finishes are applied across those parts: straight hairline, circular hairline, mirror and honing.

The dial is made by Yamagata Casio, the plant Casio calls the mother factory of G-Shock, using nano-processing to cut a three-dimensional geometric texture. The finish is radial, so reflections spread outward from the centre and change as the wrist moves (as seen on the lifestyle shot in the featured image).

Inside is Tough MVT. 2, which Casio describes as detecting impacts and magnetic fields and correcting hand positions automatically to keep the display accurate. It runs on Tough Solar, adds Multi Band 6 radio reception across six transmitters, and connects over Bluetooth for time syncing and roughly 300 world time cities through the Casio Watches app. Casio quotes five months of operation without light exposure, or 22 months stored in darkness with power saving on.

The case measures 50 by 45.5 by 13.2 mm and weighs 138 g. It's built from bio-based carbon with a stainless steel bezel and a solid steel bracelet. Sapphire with anti-reflective coating covers the dial, water resistance is 200 m, and the crown screws down.

That makes it a much larger watch than the GST-B1000 Casio introduced last October, which was 46.9 by 44.2 by 11.6 mm and weighed 118 g on steel.

Casio has not announced pricing as of writing.
