Casio launches new military-inspired G-Shock Mudmaster with Triple Sensor, Bluetooth and Tough Solar

Alongside the new Frogman, Casio has also refreshed the G-Shock Mudmaster series with the introduction of the GWG-B1000-1A3JF, a new variant that offers the signature mudproof, shockproof, and dustproof construction in a stealthy new military gear-inspired colorway.

There have been quite a few flashy colors for the Mudmaster, most notably the GWG-B1000MG-1A9 with its intense red and orange color scheme, but this is perhaps the most tactical and muted version yet, with the new model pairing a black case with tan dial accents and bezel markings, and an olive green matte urethane band.

The GWG-B1000 is built around a multi-part guard structure that combines stainless steel and carbon fiber-reinforced resin, with cylindrical stainless steel guards protecting the buttons and a screw-lock crown helping keep mud and dust out. Meanwhile, αGEL material is implemented around the module to improve vibration resistance.

The textured dial packs plenty of functional detail, including a compass scale around the outer edge, a vertical sensor indicator at 9 o’clock, and a gold-accented multi-function subdial at 3 o’clock. A rectangular dot-matrix LCD at 6 o’clock lets you monitor real-time sensor readings, while the analog hands can retract to clear the display when needed.

Like other GWG-B1000 models, the new Mudmaster packs a Triple Sensor setup (ABC sensors) for measuring direction, altitude/barometric pressure, and temperature. The compass can display a stored bearing, while the watch can also point toward a location saved in the Casio Watches app. 

Unlike the Frogman, this one comes equipped with Bluetooth connectivity, enabling you to sync your watch with a smartphone while also giving you access to neat features like automatic time correction, while Multiband 6 radio control provides another way to keep the time accurate.

Power comes from Casio's Tough Solar system, and the watch is rated for 200-meter water resistance. A Super Illuminator double LED light helps keep the dial and digital display readable in the dark, while an anti-reflective sapphire crystal adds another layer of durability. The dial also uses large, high-contrast markers and hands, with a digital display tucked into the lower half of the face.

Pricing & Availability

The G-Shock Mudmaster GWG-B1000-1A3 is available for pre-order in Japan for ¥132,000 (~$859) starting today, with official sales commencing later this month. There's no word yet on when the new Mudmaster and Frogman will make their way to global markets.
