Casio finally launches all five MTP-E740 watches with Seiko Time Sonar-inspired dials

Casio first announced its new colorful MTP-E740 series with translucent dials in August, but the lineup has taken its sweet time reaching the market. Earlier this month, two models—the orange MTP-E740-4AV and navy-blue MTP-E740-2A1V—went on sale in the UK, leaving the remaining three colorways waiting in the wings. That’s finally changing as Casio has now officially brought the entire collection, including the teal, bright blue, and brown models, to the market.

All five MTP-E740 watches are now available in India, including the teal MTP-E740-3AV, bright blue MTP-E740-2A2V, and brown MTP-E740-1AV alongside the orange and navy blue models. They’re priced at a very reasonable ₹6,995 (~$73) apiece, though none is currently available to order directly from Casio. The “Click to Buy” button is missing from each product page at the time of writing. It looks like Casio is still working out the final details, with direct online sales likely to follow soon (we'll update this article when that happens).

The MTP-E740’s biggest selling point is its translucent dial, which exposes the day and date wheels underneath. It’s a playful design choice inspired by Seiko’s 1970s Time Sonar watches and turns the otherwise ordinary calendar display into a visual delight.

The specifications and dimensions are identical across all five models, with each timepiece featuring a 39.8mm stainless steel case and bracelet, applied baton markers, mineral glass, and a framed date window at 3 o’clock. The day wheel displays English or Spanish, while Casio’s 5339 quartz movement keeps time to within ±20 seconds per month.

There’s also 50-meter water resistance and around three years of battery life from an SR920SW battery. 

The MTP-E740 is another compelling example of Casio proving that an affordable watch doesn’t have to be boring. Now, we just need Casio to bring all five colors to the US and other markets.
