GrowthRing & Supply has announced a new G-Shock collaboration built on the DW-5600RL-1. It will debut at an event in Hong Kong on 17 September.

The Hong Kong label, founded in 2014 as a retail shop before launching its own line, calls the project Kowloon Impact. The name is written as 九龍衝擊 and shows up as a wordmark redesigned for the project by Japanese type designer Yu Miyama, who is a long-time GRS collaborator. The brand describes the treatment as a "contemporary reinterpretation of traditional Chinese characters". Kowloon has been its central reference since its earliest pieces drew on the Kowloon Walled City.

The wordmark is split across the strap. You can see 九龍 above the case and 衝擊 below, and GRS is printed further down the band. The base is Casio's retro-colored square, which reproduces the first G-Shock's scheme with red and blue accents. In the images released so far the caseback has standard DW-5600RL markings: nothing is really special. the packaging is a distressed black-and-white box. A T-shirt bearing the same typography and a digital-display graphic comes with it.

The two are being sold together as the 'GRShock Kowloon Impact Limited Set.' This will debut at a limited-time event at DragonClub Paterson on the afternoon of 17 September. GRS says more details will follow.

Neither price nor production numbers have been given, no collaboration reference has been published, and Casio has issued nothing of its own. The line on the packaging, "Together We Will Rise Again", belongs to GRS's Project Rising programme. Whether the watch amounts to more than printed resin will not be clear until the set is shown in Hong Kong.
