IFA 2026: Blackview PlayPop 8 Offers a Different Way to Play
IFAAs one of the world's major consumer electronics shows, IFA brings together a wide range of new products, from smart devices and mobile technology to home entertainment and emerging innovations. At IFA 2026, I discovered something particularly interesting at the Blackview booth: the PlayPop 8, a gaming box unlike the traditional consoles I'm used to seeing.
There is no conventional game controller—instead, your body becomes the controller. I initially stepped in just to give it a try, but after playing it myself, I found the experience much more engaging than expected. It also got me thinking: could this simpler, more interactive approach become a new direction for family entertainment?
How Does It Work? Stand Up, Move, and Start Playing
IFA is never short of gaming devices, but PlayPop 8 immediately caught my attention because there was no traditional controller in sight. The Blackview team simply asked me to stand in front of the screen and start playing. I expected there to be a learning curve, but it was almost instant—find the right position, start moving, and the game responds.
Rather than following the traditional console formula, PlayPop 8 turns your body into the controller. Through 17-Point AI Tracking, movements such as waving, moving and jumping are recognized and reflected in the game, while the game lobby can also be navigated through gestures. The whole experience essentially comes down to Stand Up → Move → Play, without complicated controls or instructions. What made it even more interesting was how easily someone nearby could join in.
Kids, parents and friends can all pick it up quickly. For me, that's what makes PlayPop 8 so different: it takes gaming from “holding a controller” to simply standing up and playing together.
From “Trying It Out” to “Wanting More,” the Game Library Matters
What kept me at the booth for longer was the game content behind PlayPop 8. After finishing one game, I naturally wanted to see what else was available. PlayPop 8 launches with five free games covering six major categories, including sports, racing, party, fitness, casual and family entertainment. That variety was more appealing to me than simply seeing a few exhibition demos. You start wondering, “What can I play next?” Blackview is also introducing a GamePass, designed to give users access to an expanding selection of games.
That makes PlayPop 8 feel less like a box you buy to play a handful of titles and more like an entertainment platform with new content to discover. If the game library continues to grow, this could be one of the key reasons users keep coming back—not just playing once, but always wondering what they can try next.

The longer I played, the more I felt that PlayPop 8's real potential may not be in solo gaming, but in the living room, family gatherings and parties with friends. TVs, projectors and monitors can all become the gaming screen, so there is no need to build a dedicated gaming setup. Connect PlayPop 8 to a screen, and everyone can jump in. Kids can stand up, move and react, while parents don't need to learn complicated controller controls. At a party, it can also turn into an easy way for everyone to participate.
For me, this is one of the most appealing aspects of PlayPop 8: it isn't designed only for people who already consider themselves gamers. It opens the door for different generations—and even people who rarely play games—to join in. In that sense, it feels less like individual gaming and more like turning gaming into a shared experience.

For a gaming device designed to sit in the living room and be used by the whole family, this kind of visible, physical privacy protection gives me an extra level of confidence.

After leaving the Blackview booth, PlayPop 8 stayed on my mind. Its controller-free, full-body interaction feels fresh, especially in a market where few products offer this kind of experience. With an expanding game library and GamePass, it also has plenty of room to grow.
