Seiko expands Astron GPS Solar lineup with two new ceramic chronographs

Seiko has expanded its Astron GPS Solar lineup with two new Dual-Time Chronograph watches. The new HAB007 and HAB008 introduce grey ceramic to the Astron collection for the first time, pairing the material with lightweight titanium cases and bracelets.

The Astron HAB007 combines a grey dial and titanium exterior with glossy grey ceramic. Meanwhile, the Astron HAB008 gets an almost-black super-hard coating on its titanium components, along with blue dial accents. On both watches, Seiko uses its newly developed grey ceramic for the bezel, bracelet centre links and crown cap. Vertically striped dials are joined by grooved bezel edges aligned with the twelve-hour markers.

Seiko has opted not to use its newer 5X63 movement, likely to set the HAB008 and HAB007 apart from other SKUs. Instead, both watches are powered by the GPS Solar 5X83 calibre from 2024. Despite being nearly two years old, it is as cutting-edge as they come, with automatic time synchronisation via GPS, 38-city world time and dual-time functionality, and a perpetual calendar programmed through February 2100. Its chronograph can measure up to 12 hours in 1/20-second increments.

Without a GPS signal, Seiko rates the 5X83 for accuracy of ±15 seconds per month. A full solar charge provides around six months of normal operation, while the power-saving mode can extend that figure to roughly two years. The Astron HAB007 and HAB008 measure 43.2 mm across, 49.5 mm lug-to-lug and 13.4 mm thick. They feature dual-curved sapphire crystals with Seiko's Super-Clear coating, LumiBrite hands and indices, 100 metres of water resistance and an easy-adjust folding clasp.

The Seiko Astron HAB007 and HAB008 are priced at €3,000 in Germany. In the Netherlands, the HAB007 costs €3,000, whereas the HAB008 is slightly pricier at €3,200 a pop. Similarly, Seiko’s Turkish website has the HAB007 listed at 191,395 TL (€3,383) and the HAB008 at 204,595 TL (€3,616). Both are regular-production models and will be available for purchase in October 2026.
