Seiko adds a new limited edition "Edo Purple" chronograph to its 145th Anniversary collection

Seiko has added a striking new “Edo Purple” watch to its 145th Anniversary collection. The new HGK003 is a basic quartz chronograph that joins the cream/gold HGK001 and the gray/rose gold HGK002 models launched in early August.

Like the earlier models, the HGK004 sports a sharply angular 40mm stainless steel case. The vibrant purple dial is the star of the show here, featuring a finely textured grid pattern similar to the one we saw on those cream and gray models. Three off-white sub-dials occupy the 9 o’clock, 6 o’clock, and 3 o’clock positions, while a black chapter ring frames the outer edge of the dial.

You get silver applied indices and gray minute and hour hands treated with LumiBrite, with a gold-tone central seconds hand and matching sub-dial hands adding a pop of color and depth. There is also a small date window tucked between 5 and 6 o’clock.

Under the hood, the HGK003 is powered by Seiko’s reliable 8T63 quartz movement, which offers a robust three-year battery life and precision of ±15 seconds per month. Other highlights of the package include a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, 100-meter (10 bar) water resistance, and a satin-finished case with an integrated bezel that gives the watch a minimalist look.

Pricing & Availability

Seiko lists the 145th Anniversary HGK003 as a limited edition, though it hasn't provided exact production numbers just yet. The watch is currently listed on Seiko's Philippines website for PHP 30,000 (~$479). In Europe and the UK, it will be available via Seiko Boutiques and authorized retailers for €480 and £430, respectively. There's no word on US availability at the moment.
