Seiko launches a limited-edition Prospex diver inspired by 'Blue Tears'

Seiko has announced a new limited edition Prospex diver inspired by “Blue Tears,” a natural phenomenon where ocean water glows bright blue at night. The event is commonly observed along the coastal areas of several Asian countries, including China, Malaysia, and Taiwan, and that might explain why this new limited edition is exclusive to select Asian markets.

The new Prospex HBB006 Thong Sia Group Exclusive Limited Edition leans into that connection with a deep blue sunray dial designed to evoke the shimmer of glowing plankton beneath the waves, paired with a matching blue rotating bezel, oversized luminous hour markers and hands, and a stainless-steel case and bracelet.

Under the hood, the HBB006 is powered by Seiko's in-house automatic caliber 4R35 movement, running at 21,600 vibrations per hour while delivering a 41-hour power reserve and stop-second functionality.

Seiko hasn’t posted full specifications on its website yet, but the new watch clearly borrows the faceted, angular case geometry of the brand's overhauled Samurai lineup. That means we can reasonably expect the same dimensions as the recently launched HBB003 and HBB004, with a 41.7mm stainless steel case measuring 12.3mm thick and 49.5mm lug-to-lug, alongside 20mm lug spacing. The watch comes on a stainless steel bracelet, and Seiko's announcement post notes that buyers will also find an additional navy blue rubber strap in the box.

Unlike the sunset-themed HBB003 and HBB004, which enjoyed wider distribution across the Asia-Pacific region with 2,500 units each, the HBB006 is a far more restricted affair. Seiko is capping production at just 1,200 pieces. The watch will be available exclusively through Thong Sia Group authorized dealers in Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia, and Brunei beginning this October. Seiko has not disclosed retail pricing yet, but given the tiny production run, securing one outside the region won't come cheap once units hit the gray market.
